Fitness Testing

The health screening interview is followed by fitness testing designed to generate realistic and measurable goals by evaluating each of the five health components of fitness:

  • cardio-respiratory fitness

  • body composition

  • muscular strength 

  • muscular endurance

  • flexibility

Initial Fitness
Assessment

Dangerous risk factors are sometimes found in even apparently healthy people. Evaluating your current fitness level serves as a safeguard, identifying whether or not there exists a need for medical clearance prior to participation. 

Your Initial Fitness Assessment also establishes a baseline from which to evaluate your future progress via serial comparisons.  It includes Fitness Testing and forms the basis of your Individualized Exercise Prescription.  The whole process starts with a comprehensive one on one interview and consultation, which includes the following:

  • Informed Consent and Liability Waiver Release

  • Health Status Questionnaire

  • Health Behavior Form

  • Vital Signs (resting heart rate and blood pressure)


NOTE:  All clients require an Initial Fitness Assessment.

Individualized
Exercise Prescription

Effective endurance training, also known as cardio-vascular or aerobic exercise, involves the proper combination of intensity, duration and frequency.  On the other hand, resistance or strength training, requires that adjustments be made in terms of type of exercise, weight lifted, number of sets, and rest periods between sets

Your Individualized Exercise Prescription will provide you with clear guidelines based on the above mentioned variables, as well as:

  • daily caloric need

  • desired body weight

  • target training heart rate
